Football is not only a game of skill, but also of perseverance, discipline and strategy. At the Levski – Rakovski Academy, we believe that every child has the potential to develop, regardless of their level of ability. It is important to know that success in sports does not come only through talent, but also through the right training and approach.
Our coaches are happy to share with you some basic tips and drills that help young football players develop their skills and increase their performance on the field.
1. Ball control and dribbling
Tips:
Practice keeping the ball close to your feet while moving in different directions.
Do regular dribbling exercises with both feet to develop symmetry and balance.
Use simple dribbling techniques such as “figure eights” or quick changes of direction to improve control.
2. Passing and Team Communication
Practice passing with varying power and angle, both with the inside and outside of your foot.
Work on passing in motion, not just static.
Develop the ability to use eye contact and gestures to communicate with other players before passing the ball.
3. Fitness and Endurance
Include cardio workouts like long-distance running, interval training, and skiing techniques to increase your cardiovascular endurance.
Work on lower-body strength training (like squats and lunges) to improve your stability and acceleration.
Don’t forget about flexibility – stretching is important not only for preventing injuries, but also for better movement.
4.Positioning on the field
5. Mental preparation and concentration
Football is a game that requires not only physical but also mental strength. Concentration and mental endurance play an equally important role as physical skills.
Before a match or training session, use visualization techniques – imagine yourself performing certain actions correctly.
Learn to focus on the task at hand and not be distracted by external factors.
Recover mentally after failures – it is important to learn from mistakes and keep fighting until the end.
Football is a game in which not only skills, but also team spirit, perseverance and the desire for success are essential for victory. We wish all our young footballers to use these tips to continue developing and achieving new successes both on and off the field.
